Algarve wins eight prizes at the European gala of the World Travel Awards

This was, moreover, a good year for Portugal, in what is often referred to as the Oscars of tourism, considering that our country was elected, for the second consecutive time, the best European holiday destination of 2018 and saw the Tourism of Portugal elected as the best tourism entity at European level.

With regard to the Algarve, Ria Park Hotel in Vale do Garrão, Almancil (Loulé), has won the Best Family Resort and Best Hotel of Meetings & Conferences in Europe.

Loulé is, moreover, the most represented municipality, with three more hotel units awarded. The Hotel Quinta do Lago was awarded the Best Beach Resort in Europe, the "neighbor" Conrad Algarve received the European prize for best Lifestyle venture and the Dunas Douradas Beach Club was awarded as the best villas development in Europe.

The municipality of Lagoa was not far behind and saw two of its award-winning hotels. Vila Vita Parc was considered the Best Luxury Hotel & Villas in Europe and the Monte Santo Resort in Carvoeiro was considered the Most Romantic Resort in Europe. Vila Joya, from Albufeira, was awarded the Best Boutique Resort in Europe.

To the eight European tourism attractions, four Portuguese were joined: Best Hotel Conference in Portugal (Ria Park Hotel & Spa), Best Family Resort in Portugal (Quinta do Lago Hotel), Best Hotel in Portugal Resort) and the Best Resort in Portugal (Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa in Vilamoura).

"The excellence of the Algarve's hotels, whose fame has earned the international award of the region, has led to the best of the strong national and foreign competition in some of the main categories of the World Travel Awards", said the President of the Region of Tourism of the Algarve Desidério Silva.
