Foreigners reinforced the purchase of housing in Lisbon last year and made an investment of 675.6 million euros, according to data released by Confidential Real Estate, which has been compiling data on the real estate market for several years. In all, foreign investors bought 1,592 real estate, 67% more than in 2017 (955 properties).
The data also show that the origin of investors is diversified, although there are predominant nationalities: France (18%), China (14%), Brazil (8%), UK and USA are the countries with the largest share of foreign investment.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area accounted for 48% of the value of housing transactions carried out in 2018. At the national level house prices increased by 10%. In the capital, in the third quarter of 2018, the increase was 24%.
