In each hour, € 2.4 million was spent on the purchase and sale of real estate in Lisbon in 2018, taking into account the hours of operation of the notary offices (from 9 am to 7 pm), or approximately € 40,000 per minute. Never in Portugal has so much money been transacted in such a short time in real estate.
Within the perimeter of what is classified as an Urban Rehabilitation Area of Lisbon (ARU) - which encompasses practically the entire city - 13,150 real estate transactions were recorded during 2018, corresponding to a value of € 6 billion, according to data released by Expresso by Confidential Imobiliário. An increase of 35% over the previous year and establishing a new record for the country's capital. These data include all real estate transactions carried out, unlike the INE which, in the data released this week for the whole country, only includes housing (see box).
