In order to promote itself as a safe holiday destination, the Algarve will host, in April and May, a series of debates and awareness actions dedicated to the safety, protection and well-being of tourists, which result from the collaboration between the Region (RTA), Safe Communities Portugal, the Ministry of Internal Administration and other public and private entities with an active role in this area.
The initiative is mainly aimed at professionals in the tourism sector and has the participation of the Secretary of State and Home Affairs, Isabel Oneto, the President of the RTA, João Fernandes, President of the Association Safe Communities Portugal, David Thomas, the president of the Municipality of Portimão, Isilda Gomes, and representatives of entities such as the Public Security Police (PSP), the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV).
