In total, Portugal collected, this Thursday, 12 awards at the 28th World Travel Awards (WTA), considered the Oscars of tourism, against 26 awards won in the European edition, which took place last October.
Madeira was considered the Best Island Destination in the World and the Algarve received the distinction of Best Beach Destination in the World, while the Best Adventure Tourism Attraction in the World went to the Paiva Walkways, and the Responsible Tourism award was given to the Dark Sky Alqueva project.
The World Travel Awards also distinguished TAP in two categories - Best Airline to Africa and Best Airline to South America, Parques de Sintra - Monte da Lua as the World's Best Company in Conservation, for the 9th consecutive year.
