Portugal is referred by tourists as one of the most hospitable countries in Europe, according to a study by Jetcost.pt, which found that 70% of European tourists were pleased with the hospitality of the Portuguese, in a ranking where Portugal was only surpassed by the Netherlands.
Regarding Portugal, among respondents who pointed out the country as the most hospitable in Europe, 48% considered that the Portuguese “were very hospitable and kind” and 36% admitted that they “always tried to talk”, with 28% of respondents also revealing that the Portuguese tried to teach them "their customs". Of these, 24% also mentioned that the Portuguese “always had a smile and joked all the time” and 15% said that “they wanted you to taste their typical dishes”.
