The number of tourists in Portugal could reach a record 24 million visitors in 2019. This is the forecast of Luís Araújo, President of Turismo de Portugal. Luís Araújo revealed that there was a growth of 6% in the number of tourists until June. And this number may increase in July and August, thus surpassing the 22.8 million tourists that the country received in 2018.

This means that, according to Jornal Económico's accounts, Portugal is expected to exceed 24 million tourists by the end of 2019. The 22.8 million received in 2018, according to data from the National Statistics Institute, put the country at 17Th place in the ranking of countries with the largest number of tourists worldwide (data from the World Tourism Organization).
