The Revive Program, created in 2016 by the Government to recover and enhance historical heritage through tourism, will be extended to protected areas and natural parks, according to information from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Transition (MATE). The information was announced today by Público, who spoke on the creation of a Real Estate Fund - Revive Nature, of public capital, which will bring together the real estate in question, "with special focus on the Central zone, Lisbon and Tagus Valley and Algarve, in areas protected areas or forest areas under the State ".
So far, some 60 properties "with a potential to integrate the fund" have been identified, including former tax offices and forest houses, according to MATE official source, adding: "It intends to promote the use of unused public buildings, with odd locations, in protected areas or in forest areas under the State's authority, "and create" tourism supply networks to generate activity and give visibility to low-density territories." It also states that the properties will be "leased or concessioned for tourism purposes, through a tender, subject to a set of rules of use and network management".
