The Algarve Tourism Association (ATA), the agency responsible for promoting this destination to foreign markets, welcomes the launch of the five new routes to Faro, announced today by Ryanair, in the official start of winter time. The new connections will link the Algarve to Berlin, Cologne, Cork, Marseille and Milan Bergamo, bringing the total number of routes this company offers to Faro during the autumn and winter months to a total of 24.
This announcement is in line with the effort and strategy that ATA has been implementing in order to capture more and more direct air links to the Algarve. In the words of Dora Coelho, Executive Director of ATA, "It is with great satisfaction that we see this continued investment of Ryanair in the region, which will help us to promote the Algarve as a desirable destination throughout the year. In addition, the increase in the number of routes enables a potential increase in the number of tourists in the low and intermediate seasons and a strengthening of the region's sustainability through the reduction of seasonal imbalances, on the other hand, it also offers us the opportunity to promote and make known different facets of fate, with regard to their offer, often still unknown by those who visit us traditionally in the summer. "
Golf, nature tourism - such as wellness, cycling & walking, birdwatching or even surfing and diving - along with gastronomy and wines are some of the elements of the region's offer, as strong points of attraction of tourists to the Algarve outside the high season.
According to the announcement made by Ryanair, this is "the longest winter timetable" of the company and represents the company's commitment to the development of traffic and tourism in the Algarve.
