The National Tourist Oscars awarded Vila Vita Parc in Lagoa as "Best Resort", the Salgados Palm Village in Albufeira as "Best Family Resort Hotel" and Vila Joya, also in Albufeira, as "Best Beach Hotel" in Portugal.
The Algarve was also distinguished in the category of "Best Golf Course", handed over once again to the Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort in Lagos, which thus reaches the prize seven times in a row.
"Over the years, luxury hotels have been growing in Europe. The Algarve has been distinguished by the differentiation and excellence of its units, with exclusive experiences, of added value for the tourist ", according to the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA).
"It is with satisfaction that the hospitality industry in Algarve is once again distinguished by the excellence of its offer, by professionals in the industry who have evaluated and rewarded the best that the tourism industry has to offer in Portugal. It is also with proud pride that the Algarve stands out once again as the best national golf destination, hosting the best golf course in the country, which is so proud of us", confesses João Fernandes, president of the RTA.
The winners resulted from a weighted average of the subscribers of the newsletter of the Publituris newspaper (40%) and the votes of a jury (60%) made up of personalities such as Luís Araújo, President of Tourism of Portugal, Raul Martins, Pedro Costa Ferreira, president of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, president of the Vila Galé Group, or Frederico Costa, administrator of Pousadas de Portugal.
