The real estate world wants to stop building in the traditional way. David Martinez, CEO of Aedas Homes, a Spanish construction company, says so. To El Pais, the official said that the objective, still far, is to robotize the way the buildings are elevated. Increased costs and delays in construction are the main reasons for the desire to automate processes.
On the sidelines of the "Innovation @ real estate" organized by consultancy EY, David Martinez even admits the automation of some processes to replace the workforce, which he considers increasingly less qualified.
Azora, another real estate company, has already started betting on modular constructions. "We do this by reducing costs, speed and improving quality," says Cristina García-Peri, managing partner of the company.
On the other hand, Ismael Clemente, CEO of Merlin, a SOCIMI (Sociedade Anónima Cotizada de Inversión en el Mercado Inmobiliario) reminds us that for now, 3D printing projects in works or robotization experiments are very incipient. "We are very interested in robotization in construction, but for now there is really nothing."
